The Mighty Magnet & The Strong Space-Plug

With 195 kitchen showrooms across the UK, Magnet is well known in the UK for crafting beautiful and purposeful kitchens for over 100 years. Last year, they started on a journey to improve their cabinetry, with the main focus on saving 20% on fitting time. 

 
Their development team at Darlington looked at all angles of their cabinetry, seeking to perfect. One of the biggest drawbacks with all base units are the L brackets. They account for a huge amount of wasted time when installing kitchen base units. The product development team thought there must be a better way. And there is! The relationship between Magnet and Space-Plug has been growing for the last 9 months and we are pleased to announce that our humble but mighty Adjustable Spacer Fixings now features as the main fixing component for all new Magnet base units and will be supplied with every base cabinet.
 

 
Space-Plug Ltd was set up by a British inventor and former kitchen installer, Cliff Petit. He believed there was a better way to fix base cabinets to walls and put an end to irritating L brackets. The ‘Adjustable Spacer Fixing’ is designed to bridge the gap between the back of the unit and the wall, with the need to only drill once, through both cabinet and wall. 
 
The award-winning adjustable spacer fixing, was instantly recognised as a solution to Magnet’s fixing problem. During an internal presentation of their new cabinet designs to Nobia, the parent company of Magnet. Vice-President of Nobia, Kristoffer Ljungfelt sought an audience with the inventor. “I have literally seen thousands of new inventions for the kitchen industry." Kristoffer said, "But the Adjustable Spacer Fixing is amazing. Such a simple solution to an age-old problem." Kristoffer went on to say, "This invention really is one of the best kitchen inventions I have ever seen, our ambition at Nobia is to simplify the installation process for our customers, yet continue to build superior cabinets. The fixing Cliff has invented will be around for a very, very long time and Magnet installers will benefit!”

Magnet launched their new cabinets through their own network of Magnet Trade outlets and showrooms on the 14th of September 2023. Anyone purchasing a Magnet kitchen will now receive an Adjustable Spacer Fixings with the other components in the box with each base unit.
